July 2, 2021आम्ही एकदा सहज अंगणात बसलो असता खूप जोराचा विजांचा कडकडाट झाला, परंतु माझा मुलगा ( १ वर्षाचा) अजिबात दचकला नाही, मग आम्ही त्याचा आजूबाजूला आवाज करून बघितला पण त्याचा काहीही रिस्पॉन्स आला नाही.
मग वेळ न दवडता आम्ही डॉ. गौरव पाटील यांच्याकडे घेऊन गेलो. त्यांनी कानाची तपासणी करून सांगितले की आमच्या मुलाला अजिबात ऐकायला येत नाही. यामुळे तो बोलत सुद्धा नाही. मग त्यांनी आम्हाला कानाचे ऐकण्याचे मशीन लावावे लागेल व नंतर ऑपरेशन करावे लागेल असे सांगितले. त्यांच्या सांगण्याप्रमाणे आम्ही मशीन घेतले, व एक वर्षांनी ऑपरेशन केले. आता दिड वर्षांनी आमचा मुलगा हाक मारली तर रिस्पॉन्स करतो. आवाज झाला की त्याला ऐकायला येते. व आता शब्द बोलायला लागला.
पुढेही खूप काही बदल येईल असे सर म्हणाले.

Having hearing problem in one ear. June 2, 2021
Hearing is a sensory organ which can be compared with eyes. We have two ears and eyes which help us hearing & vision from 360 degree. Hearing from two ears help us localize sound source, better speech discrimination in noisy situations & concentrate on important conversation over distance. For single sided deafness first and best option is a cochlear implant in poorer ear, second is BAHA device, third is CROS hearing aids. Cochlear implant helps in true binaural hearing but this involves surgery and cost of implant is high. BAHA and CROS hearing aids utilises better ear for hearing so if better ear gets damaged then cochlear implant is the only option because it restores damage ear. Due to high cost and surgical intervention most of the patients try to avoid it.
